Intervals Aloud

Email ppyarden@gmail.com and you will get a reply from the person who built the app. Bug reports and feature requests are both welcome — say which iPhone and which iOS version, and it will be easier to fix.

I can't hear the cues

Does it keep working with the screen off?

Yes. Cues carry on with the phone locked and in a pocket, and play over music from any app. There is a Live Activity on the Lock Screen showing the interval and the countdown.

Can I make my own routines?

Yes. Tap +, choose a shape, set the times and name it. You can also start from any built-in routine and change it, or nest repeating rounds inside a routine for circuits and HIIT.

The voices

Four Kokoro voices ship with a bundled vocabulary, plus your phone's built-in voice. When you invent a name outside that vocabulary, the app securely prepares the complete phrase in the same chosen voice and caches it. The first preparation needs an internet connection; playback after that is offline. If preparation is unavailable, the workout uses one phone voice throughout rather than changing voices midway.

Apple Watch

The watch app runs routines on their own and speaks the same cues. Your routines and settings sync from the phone automatically.

Apple Health

Finished routines can be saved to Health as workouts so they appear in Fitness and count toward your rings. This is optional, and the app only ever writes to Health — it never reads your health data.

Privacy

There is no account, analytics, advertising or tracking. Custom voice generation sends only the cue text and selected voice and does not store them. Full details are in the privacy policy.
